Anamana Establishes Japanese Hub to Scale AI-Native Animated Micro-Serials
PR Newswire
TOKYO and LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14, 2026
Strategic partnership creates ‘Anamana Japan,’ connecting Japanese creators and studios with agentic AI production tools and global distribution.
TOKYO and LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Anamana, the integrated platform and production ecosystem for AI-native micro-serials, today announced a strategic partnership establishing Anamana Japan as a dedicated regional hub. Operating in collaboration with Tokyo-based Marketing Monster Inc., the hub will lead local content production, creator ecosystem development, and business growth across Japan.

As the global market (ex-China) for vertical 9:16 mobile entertainment surges past $5 billion, Japan stands as a powerhouse for serialized visual narrative and popular media. The establishment of Anamana Japan pairs local creative talent with Anamana Studio—the platform’s proprietary agentic AI production suite—to build a high-volume pipeline of original, animated micro-serials for both Japanese and global audiences.
Anamana Japan is led by industry veterans Yota Tsunoe and Masashi Kawamata. Anamana Japan was partially conceived by Kawamata, who originally pitched the concept for a localized Japanese hub after gaining firsthand experience as a filmmaker in the global Anamana 100 Creator Incubator. Under their leadership, Anamana Japan is building a local ecosystem of independent writers, directors, production teams, studios, and IP holders to deliver a continuous stream of commercially viable micro-serials to the Anamana platform.
“Japan represents a crucial strategic market for serialized storytelling, and this partnership marks a focused effort to accelerate our growth across the region,” said Kai Pan, Head of Marketing Communications at Anamana. “By establishing Anamana Japan, we are dramatically lowering traditional barriers to creation, opening up new possibilities for growth and giving creators a stage to thrive globally. We are providing local storytellers with the capital, software, and global reach needed to translate compelling ideas into commercially successful anime micro-serials for audiences worldwide.”
“Micro-serials represent a major commercial opportunity for Japanese storytellers,” said Yota Tsunoe, Head of Business at Anamana Japan. “Through Anamana Japan’s local variant of the Anamana 100 incubator, creators receive funding, production tools, and direct access to Anamana’s global audience. Concurrently, local studios looking to develop independent projects can leverage Anamana Studio to produce vertical content with unprecedented efficiency.”
“My own creator journey in the Anamana 100 incubator shaped the idea for Anamana Japan,” added Masashi Kawamata, Head of Creative at Anamana Japan. “My role is to work alongside Japan’s creators, studios, and IP holders, expanding their access to production resources and international distribution. I want to give them this unprecedented opportunity, helping them craft distinctive stories for the micro-serial format and global audiences.”
Initial Japanese Production Slate
Anamana Japan’s upcoming slate spans fandom favorites across revenge, dark fantasy, and supernatural Boys’ Love (BL) themes:
- I Transferred to Break the Boss: A young woman forced into a contract marriage to save her father’s factory transfers to an all-male technical school to take her fiancé’s son hostage.
- The Center Who Built the Empire She’s Now Tearing Down: A former idol returns to reclaim her stage and exact revenge on her husband for his public betrayal, having been the one who actually built his beauty empire.
- The Headless Knight: A disgraced knight strikes a dark fantasy marriage bargain with the reclusive witch who revived him to recover his stolen head from a jealous king.
- The Wolf Samurai I Killed Off: A game-world fantasy BL series where a writer is pulled into his own video game and falls for the wolf samurai whose death he originally scripted.
- On Cat Island, There Is No Escaping Love: A contemporary fantasy BL romance set on an island where cats turn into men after dark.
- The Failed Shinobi Marked for Execution Is Loved by the Strongest: A ninja transmigration romance following a condemned shinobi who alone can ease his executioner’s curse.
Titles produced under the partnership will premiere on the Anamana mobile app across iOS and Android, localized for global audiences across 15 languages. Creators, studios, and IP holders interested in co-production opportunities or acquiring Anamana Studio licenses can learn more at anamana.com.
